Open Position – Admissions Advisor

Great Lakes Boat Building School is accepting applications for both part-time and full-time Admissions Advisor(s). The Admissions Advisor(s) role is to build Great Lakes Boat Building School student enrollment through recruitment and marketing. This position may be remote with travel during key recruitment months.



  • High school diploma required.
  • Possess a sincere interest in helping others achieve life goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Superior organizational and problem resolution skills. 
  • Goal oriented and highly ethical. 
  • Possess strong computer skills with experience in Windows Office Suite, Google Suite and WordPress.
  • Ability to interact effectively as either a leader or as a member of a team and work collaboratively with other staff members. 
  • Ability to listen to customers (e.g. staff, etc.) and to understand and respond positively to their requests. 
  • Ability to adapt to changing assignments and multiple priorities. 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines.
  • Able to travel for recruitment events. 
  • Able to work occasional evening and weekend hours.


  • Bachelor’s degree in advertising, marketing, communication, business administration or counseling.
  • Graduate of an accredited boat building school or marine technician program 
  • Minimum of 1-2 years admissions recruitment or non-durable goods sales experience.
  • Knowledge or skills of the marine industry

Great Lakes Boat Building School (GLBBS) is an accredited, non-profit (501 (c)3, private school located in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.  GLBBS prepares students for rewarding careers in the marine industry by offering 12-month programs Comprehensive Career Boat Building (CCBB) and Marine Service Technology (MST).  The CCBB program has achieved 100% career placement over the last 5 years with alumni working nationally in the wood boat building and restoration industry.
