GLBBS Partners with Cedarpost to host Feeding America

Feeding America comes to Les Cheneaux Islands to help local community

CEDARVILLE, MI During the COVID-19 pandemic, many hard-working Americans suddenly have found themselves needing support they never wanted to ask for.  In order to help those facing this problem in our community, Great Lakes Boat Building School (GLBBS), in partnership with Cedar Post Food Pantry, will be hosting a Feeding America Mobile Pantry on Wednesday, April 29th at their campus.

“We are very thankful for the opportunity to support this effort by opening the GLBBS doors to Feeding America and our community,” says Executive Director, Nikki Storey.  “We have been looking for some way to support those in need, and this is a great way. When the Les Cheneaux Community Foundation asked if we would be willing to host the event at GLBBS, we happily said yes. Cedar Post Food Pantry volunteers have done an amazing job coordinating the event and bringing Feeding America to the Eastern Upper Peninsula.”

For anyone in need of assistance during this very difficult time,  visit Great Lakes Boat Building School, 485 S. Meridian, Cedarville, Michigan on Wednesday, April 29th at 11:00 AM.  Registration will start at 10:00 AM. This is a drive-thru food pick-up only.  We ask all people to remain in their cars and wear proper PPE.  Please follow signs and do not follow GPS nor use the usual route to get to the Boat School.  A big thank you to Snows Bar & Grill, as they will be donating lunch to all volunteers.

To support your community or affected communities directly, you can use the Feeding America food bank locator at www.feedingamerica.org/find-your-local-foodbank.
