GLBBS NAMES ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

scholarship named for School visionary

Great Lakes Boat Building School has established an endowed scholarship fund, held by the Les Cheneaux Community Foundation. The goal of this fund was to help students who had demonstrated exceptional achievement and aptitude, and who, without financial assistance would be unable to continue with their education at GLBBS.

The idea of having a wooden boat school, located in the Les Cheneaux Islands, was envisioned and promoted by Bonnie Mikkelsen, and through her driving effort, Great Lakes Boat Building School became a reality. During its first decade of existence Bonnie’s hand was very instrumental in making the school what it is today.

It is said that we each have one of the three “T’s” that we can contribute to the causes we love: time, talent or treasure. To honor Bonnie’s time, talent and treasurer, the GLBBS Board of Directors recently voted to name this scholarship fund, the Bonnie Mikkelsen Endowed Scholarship Fund.

Those wishing to donate to this scholarship fund, in honor of Bonnie, can send their donations to Les Cheneaux Community Foundation, PO Box 249, Cedarville, MI 49719, with direction to have their tax deductible contribution placed into the Bonnie Mikkelsen Endowed Scholarship Fund.

CONGRATULATIONS and THANK YOU Bonnie Mikkelsen!
