Great Lakes Boat Building School (GLBBS) is proud to announce our “Skiff Raffle of a 2020 Gravelly Island Skiff” starting June 1st, 2020 at 11:00AM at the GLBBS campus (485 S. Meridian St.; Cedarville, MI 49719). The drawing will be held September 4th, 2020. Need not be present to win. Must be 18 years or older to buy a ticket. Proceeds to benefit Great Lakes Boat Building School. Due to COVID 19, our school is closed to the public. Please fill out the GLBBS Raffle Ticket Interest Form and we will contact you, or you may call 906-484-1081 for info on purchasing a raffle ticket.

Gravelly Island Skiff Raffle

OFFICIAL RULES

The “Skiff Raffle of a 2020 Gravelly Island Skiff” Raffle is being conducted by GLBBS, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization under the laws of the State of Michigan.

Ticket purchasers must be 18 years of age or older to participate and must have a valid Social Security number.

There is no limit to the number of tickets one (1) person may purchase.

Raffle tickets are $250.00 each. Raffle tickets may be purchased by cash, checks or credit/debit card (made payable to GLBBS). Should the purchaser’s check not be honored by the bank, the ticket will become void and withdrawn from the drawing.

By IRS declaration, ticket purchases for valuable prizes are not eligible for charitable tax deductions.

Odds of winning are 1:200 per ticket.

Tickets may be purchased by the following methods:

  • Fill out our online raffle ticket interest form, and a staff member will contact you regarding payment
  • By phone at 906-484-1081; M-F 8-4p

All ticket orders must be received with full payment no later than 4PM on September 4th or before a total of 200 tickets have been sold, whichever comes first, to be entered into the drawing. GLBBS will not extend ticket sales beyond the current drawing date of 7PM on September 4th, 2020.

Prize: One prize will be given away. First Prize: 2020 Gravelly Island Skiff and Trailer.

Drawing will be held at the GLBBS’s campus September 4th, 2020 at approximately 7PM. The winner will be determined by random drawing.

Winner need not be present to win. Winner will be notified by via phone and certified return receipt mail within 7 days of the drawing and will be posted on the Great Lakes Boat Building School website (glbbs.edu).

If GLBBS has not sold by 4:00 pm EST on September 4th, 2020, at least 100 valid raffle tickets and received full payment, therefore, the raffle will convert to a 50/50 raffle utilizing the proceeds of all tickets sold to that point. A random drawing at approximately 7PM on September 4th, 2020 will take place where half of the dollars raised will be awarded.

Example: 60 tickets sold @ $250 each = $15,000. 50/50 raffle winner will receive $7,500
                   and GLBBS would retain $7,500.

The prize winner is solely responsible for all local, state and federal taxes, title, transfer fees, license duties, insurance and all expenses incurred in claiming the 2020 Gravelly Island Skiff and Trailer. The Internal Revenue Service requires the winner to fill out a W-9 before receiving a prize winning over $600, and the winner will receive a 1099-misc revenue form from GLBBS for filing with 2020 income tax returns. The First Prize winner understands, acknowledges, and agrees that the First Prize winner is receiving a prize and will hereby release and discharge GLBBS, and any additional sponsors, their employees, agents, officers, directors and legal representatives and assigns from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses or expenses arising from or caused by the award of such prize, including, but not limited to the payment of any and all taxes that are due.

Prize must be claimed within 30 days of drawing. Any unclaimed prize after that date will constitute forfeiture and be transferred to GLBBS as a donation.

GLBBS, its Board of Directors, and its agents assume no liability for lost, late, misdirected, mutilated, incomplete, illegible, or entries without payment which will be deemed invalid and disqualified.

The decisions and rules of GLBBS are final on all matters concerning the raffle.
