Open Position – Marine Technician Instructor

GLBBS is looking for a passionate marine technician to join our growing team! If you have a love for boats and would like the opportunity to help shape the future of the marine industry workforce, teaching at Great Lakes Boat Building School (GLBBS) may be for you. If you have industry experience GLBBS will provide you the tools and training necessary to be an educator and take your career to the next level. GLBBS is in Cedarville, Michigan and invites applications for the position of Instructor for our Marine Service Technology Program.  GLBBS is a school specializing in training students interested in boat building and maritime industry careers. The School is an ABYC Marine League School and has partnered with Mercury Marine to provide the best possible technical training to our students. The School is located on a beautiful 12,000 square foot waterfront facility on Lake Huron, just a short drive from the Mackinac Bridge. 

The Instructor’s primary responsibility is the instruction and guidance of students within the Great Lakes Boat Building School (GLBBS) approved curriculum. This role is responsible for adhering to recognized curriculum standards, and compliance with instructional guidelines as defined by the Executive Committee or Board of Directors. Work includes course delivery, administration of tests (or equivalent course criteria), and the tabulation and submission of students’ final course grades.   • High School diploma
  • 3 + years industry relevant work experience in boat building trade specific to program (ie. Mechanical repair, electrical, marine systems, boat building etc.)
  • 5 + years industry relevant work experience preferred, industry certifications a plus
  • ABYC Certification or ability to be certified within 3 years- Master Technician (School provides)
  • Experience with outboard, inboard, sterndrive maintenance and repair.
