Lawley Tender

Completed Project

A very early example of a motorized yacht tender.

PROJECT SCOPE

The Lawley Tender was designed and built in 1907 by George Lawley at Neponset, Massachusetts, as a tender for the schooner yacht, “Blackwing”. The tender was named after the famous War of 1912 Captain James Lawrence, who uttered the words, “Don’t give up the ship!”. The boat was donated to the Mystic Seaport Museum and the lines taken and drawings made ion 1996. As far as we know, this is the first reproduction made from these drawings. This is a very early example of a motorized yacht tender.
