Location

Great Lakes Boat Building School is housed in an impressive 12,000 square-foot waterfront facility, east of the Mackinac Bridge along the northern shore of Lake Huron in the Les Cheneaux Islands. These thirty-six islands provide sheltered channels and bays within the Straits of Mackinac – a historic harbor area for boaters and explorers.

Located in the remarkable Great Waters region of the Upper Peninsula– the Les Cheneaux Area is an authentic place, where the community shares a passion for adventure, independence, a love of small town life, and of course, boats.

Great Lakes Boat Building School is a short 35 minute drive from lakes Michigan and Superior.

As a student you will live and learn in a place that inspires wonder each day. Satisfy any thirst for outdoor recreation within the endless acres of public forest, trails, campgrounds, rustic resorts, beaches and miles of open water and protected channels.

Getting Here

Getting to Cedarville is easy, leaving is the hard part.  drive timeAnd yeah, we’re “out of the way” – but that’s just the way we like it.

FROM AREAS SOUTH OF CEDARVILLE

Take I-75 north, over the Mackinac Bridge (toll), and continue North on I-75 for 14 more miles. Take Exit 359 onto M-134/North Huron Shore Drive. Continue East for 17 miles – take a right on Meridian, continue south through the 4-way stop.  GLBBS will be on your left.

FROM AREAS WEST OF CEDARVILLE

Take US-2 to I-75. Travel along I-75 North for 14 miles. Take Exit 359 onto M-134/North Huron Shore Drive. Continue East for 17 miles – welcome to Cedarville! Take a right on Meridian, continue south through the 4-way stop.  GLBBS will be on your left.

FROM THE NORTHERN U.P.

Take M-28 east to M-129. Turn right and travel south on M-129 for 24 miles – welcome to Cedarville! Make your way through the intersection with M-134 and then through a 4-way stop.  GLBBS will be on your left.

Our dock is located at 45° 59’ 32.838’’ N and 84° 21’ 39.402’’ W

Cedarville can be found on NOAA Chart #14885. 

FROM THE SKIES
