Ryan Hinnen Joins GLBBS as Recruiting & Placement Services MGR

The Board of Directors and Staff are excited to announce the addition of Ryan Hinnen to the GLBBS team. Ryan’s career has been as a strategic marketer and communicator, and he has had over ten years of experience leading corporate initiatives and building lasting relationships, which includes public relations, sales, fundraising, and grant writing. He is leaving his position of the last two years as marketing coordinator for the Comprehensive Bleeding Disorders Center in Peoria, Illinois, a non-profit entity. He also has been involved in recruiting and enrollment at Bradley University Athletics in Peoria, and assisting students in securing financial aid, as well as development and hosting of recruitment events. He has been the school’s head cheerleading coach since 2003. All these attributes should add up to making Ryan a great fit for GLBBS!

Ryan and his wife Katie have been considering relocating to Northern Michigan because of their desire to rear their three young children in a small community that reflects their values, and his fond memories of his childhood experiences summering in western parts of the Upper Peninsula. Katie has her bachelor’s degree in nursing, specializing in emergency medicine.

In Ryan’s own words:

I’m an outdoors enthusiast – I love canoeing, camping, and hiking. I’m a dog lover, a runner, an unaccomplished musician, a truly amateur woodworker (hoping GLBBS will rub off on me), a Chicago Blackhawks and Cubs fan, a cheeseburger aficionado, and an always proud father and husband.

Some of my fondest childhood memories revolve around cramming into the family minivan and heading north to the UP. Whether we were touring a lighthouse, historical fort, maritime museum or copper mine, hunting for agates, or simply hiking through the woods, I know now that my parents were doing much more than just keeping us busy. They were instilling a love for learning and a deep appreciation for both history and nature during those trips that has stayed with me throughout the years. Inevitably, when it came time to pack up and return south, I always dreamed of the day I’d visit and get to stay.

Katie and I feel blessed to have discovered this opportunity and would like to thank everyone at GLBBS who has played a part in this process. We are excited to put down some roots for our son (Rush, 5) and two daughters (Charli, 8 and Paget, 3) and believe the Les Cheneaux area is the perfect place to do so.
